Live Love Laugh Paws: LFM and Mosaic Crochet, for Lefties too!

Live Laugh Love Paws

Live Laugh Love Paws

This small blanket has paw prints around the edge and the quote, “Live Simply, Laugh Often, Love Deeply” written in the middle.

I don’t have a lot of patterns aimed towards animal lovers. I think there are a lot of people out there who will make this “baby blanket” for their beloved pooch!

Interlocking & Mosaic

As always, Live Laugh Love Paws is written up for the interlocking crochet technique and the overlay mosaic crochet technique.

Use the fully written pattern and charts in your preferred method.

Left-Handed Option

I’ve included a fully-written left-handed pattern for both techniques for this pattern.

Left-handed crocheters who follow the written patterns will end up with their final piece looking like the mirror-image of what a right-handed crocheter would get. Normally this isn’t a problem (a dog still looks like a dog), but with words we need them to be legible!

So I include a left-handed pattern for all my designs with words. See more at https://www.ravelry.com/bundles/left-handed-instructions-included.

Original Blog Entry

A friend requested this and I thought some others may like it too!

If you are familiar with my patterns you will see that when I create a pattern with words I also create written instructions for left-handed crocheters.

I think it is sad that my lefty friends have to make do with so many things created for right-handed people.

Of course, it is possible to just read each line backwards and then your words will be legible. But I think that it is much nicer to have something made for you!

After all, being left-handed shouldn’t be a reason to avoid crocheting my patterns!

So, my newest pattern: Live Laugh Love Paws, includes one file for left-handed crocheters and one file for right-handed crocheters.

Important Details for Live Laugh Love Paws

I always include the fully written pattern and charts for two colorwork techniques: interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet.

Click here to go to my tutorials for these crochet techniques.

This design also includes the written patterns for left-handed crocheters!

When you purchase this pattern you will see three files; one is for right-handed crocheters and the other is for left-handed crocheters. Both files include the fully written pattern and chart for interlocking crochet and THEN the fully written pattern for mosaic crochet. The third file is just the x-marked chart for mosaic crochet (it was added later).

When I update this pattern to include a solid mosaic crochet option (where you can’t see the interlocking mesh dots) I will also reformat the old patterns and then you’ll see three files – one for each technique – with the right- and left-handed written patterns and applicable charts in the same file.

Brackets

Brackets are used in the written pattern to indicate repeated sections. See my detailed explanation: https://ashleeslint.com/2020/08/29/brackets-in-crochet-patterns/ or watch it in action with this mosaic crochet sample at https://youtu.be/IW-vtpHTIjs.

You will receive three files.

One containing:
– the interlocking pattern
– a one-page chart (213 x 201)
– the mosaic pattern (including instructions for an envelope border)

A second containing:
– the interlocking pattern for left-handed crocheters
– a one-page chart (213 x 201)
– the mosaic pattern for left-handed crocheters (including instructions for an envelope border)

The third file is a multi-page chart marked with X’s for mosaic crochet.

Namaste Mandala

This design began as a custom pattern for a yoga instructor. The meditative pose shown on this blanket is what I think of as a basic yoga pose but I have learned that there are a lot of nuances in yoga. I read a bit about chakras and mudras and although I find it slightly interesting I don’t think I’ll become a yoga master anytime soon. This blanket is one of my larger patterns. If you feel the size is too large you can always use a smaller hook and thinner yarn but this won’t change how many stitches you make. A personal gauge swatch is the most accurate way to know how large your blanket will be.

My newest pattern features a big, llama-butt. It makes me giggle to myself each time I see it. You have until March 25, 2022 to use the sale code on Etsy or grab your automatic special surprise discount on Ravelry!
