Into The Ocean

Interlocking & Mosaic Crochet

Into the Ocean is a small throw blanket that can be made using either the interlocking crochet or overlay mosaic crochet colorwork technique. There are two mosaic crochet options which means you get three files when you purchase this pattern.

Each file contains the fully written pattern, a single-page chart (good for viewing on a screen), and a multi-page chart (better for printing). The mosaic crochet charts have X’s showing when to do the dropped double crochets.

Each file also contains a quick ‘how-to-read-charts’ page.

Two Mosaic Options

I originally published Into the Ocean in February of 2021. At that time it had an interlocking crochet option and an overlay mosaic crochet option – both using the same chart.

As of November 2023, this pattern now includes an adjusted, solid mosaic crochet option. The interlocking mesh dots are not visible in this option and the locking border lines on the edges have been removed.

The original mosaic crochet option remains available as well.

This rustic photo in the header was taken by Christine Schneider who used the interlocking crochet technique to create her blanket. She used blue as the Main Color (MC) and white as the Accent Color (AC).

Ocean Water

Water is life.

A jump into the ocean can revive your soul, wake your senses, or soothe your aches.

Here in Saskatchewan, Canada we don’t have access to an ocean. There are a few lakes around, but it’s quite a drive for me to get there. I guess that explains some of my fascination with ocean animals and beautiful ocean sunsets.

When I came up with the idea for this blanket I expected it to be a quick and easy one for me to draw. It took me longer than I expected but I’m happy with the final result!

Ocean Waves

Into the Ocean is a swirling wave surrounded by a border of waves.

It is all worked as one piece – the border of waves is not added on afterwards.
