Prairie Meadow Pillow; to match the Prairie Meadow Fox blanket

A few weeks ago I published an adorable sleeping fox blanket, called “Prairie Meadow Fox“. Someone in my Facebook group suggested that a matching pillow pattern would be nice. So off I went!

This design was extracted from my Prairie Meadow Fox blanket.

It is NOT the same size as my other large squares (which are 81 x 81 or 79 x 79). This design is 79 x 81 (that is, 39 windows wide by 40 windows tall) in interlocking crochet and 75 x 77 in mosaic crochet because I was pulling motifs from the fox blanket and the chart just ended up with this random size.

The mosaic version doesn’t need to lock the two layers together so those extra border lines are not included (which makes it slightly smaller).

The fox blanket has an adjusted chart for the mosaic version. That means I removed the interlocking mesh dots. But, for this pillow, the two charts look the same. The details that I stole from the blanket just happened to be the sections that looked the same.

For the mosaic version of this pattern, to create a pillow, you get to choose one of the following options:

Repeat between the asterisks (*) and work in the round to create the front and back at the same time. Sew the bottom edge closed, insert the pillow form, and sew the top edge closed.

Or TWO PANELS: Crochet this square twice. Put the wrong sides together, tuck the cut ends (the fringe) inside and sew three edges together, insert pillow form, and sew the final side.

For the interlocking crochet version, to create a pillow: crochet this square twice (note, the yardage listed is per square). Put the wrong sides together and sew three edges together, insert pillow form, sew up the final side.
