Valentine’s Crochet Pattern Round Up
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, let’s look at Ashlee Brotzell’s interlocking & mosaic crochet designs with hearts, love, or romance as the theme!
Hearts, Love, & Romance
I organize my patterns by size, but haven’t really compiled themed lists before. I’ve broken today’s list into two parts: patterns about love or romance and patterns that have hearts on them.
The designs I’m including in this round-up could be used for Valentine’s Day or a wedding or any other situation where hearts and love is appropriate!
Interlocking & Mosaic
I design patterns for two different colorwork techniques: interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet. Every design (with a few exceptions) comes with the fully written pattern and charts for both techniques.
Learn more about these techniques at https://ashleeslint.com/tutorials/interlocking-and-mosaic-crochet/.
Free or Paid
Whether free or paid, all designs are still protected by copyright.
Some of these are free PDF downloads, others are free to view on my website, or they have a free YouTube component.
Most of them also have a paid PDF option which is an excellent way to say thank you if you’ve enjoyed a pattern and are able to contribute.
Other ways to support a designer who offers free patterns are to invite others to visit the site where you can view the pattern (such as a link to YouTube or to my website).

Love or Romance
If you have a dinosaur-loving friend, then Dinosaur Stomp might be the most loving blanket you could make. But, this list of designs features patterns with love-y themes only.
Some of these designs also have hearts, but I’ve not duplicated any designs in the list. So, if it’s got hearts but is romantic you’ll find it in this Love or Romance section only.

Double Wedding Rings
Samples in photo crocheted by CynCityCrochet & Ashlee.
This is one of my most popular designs! I based this design on the classic quilt design with the same name.
Choose your preferred colorwork technique (interlocking crochet or overlay mosaic crochet) and then choose which direction you want to make (center-out or bottom-up). It’s repeatable so you also get to choose the final size!

My Heart is Full of Love is a smaller throw blanket and Flying Hearts 40 plus Swirly Hearts 40 are pulled from the blanket to create matching squares.
February Cat
I’ve included February Cat in the romance section because there are two cats who are obviously in love.
Forever By My Always
This blanket was designed as an anniversary gift. There are two rings on a cross and a quote that says, “you will forever be my always”.

Year of Cats “Love” blanket
These next four patterns can be combined to create a blanket that says “Love”. They are all part of my 2022: A Year of Cats series.
One of the bonus files in that eBook is an all-in-one love blanket pattern so that you can create this blanket WITHOUT joining squares (which is especially useful for the overlay mosaic crochet technique)!
My pink and black sample uses four interlocking crochet squares joined together.

December Cat
This cat square is for the the “e” in “Love” and also has a few small hearts floating around.
Using this square, along with March Cat, June Cat, and September Cat, you can create a 4-square blanket that says “Love”!
Hearts
I have a lot of designs with hearts! Some feature hearts as the main event; others simply have a heart or two somewhere in the design. A lot of the small squares can also be found in my Hearts, Hearts, Hearts eBook.
If the overall theme is romantic I’ve put it in the love or romance category even if it has a heart in the design.
