Many Hearts
“Many Hearts” refers to the nested tiny heart design used in many of Ashlee Brotzell’s crochet designs.
Interlocking & Mosaic
Each of the patterns in this collection can be made using the interlocking crochet technique or the overlay mosaic crochet technique.
Both colorwork methods come with fully written patterns and charts.
Size
Many Hearts has been written up for various sized squares and used in the background of a few patterns of various sizes.
Reversible Hearts
My favorite thing about these little hearts is that when you use the interlocking crochet method you will create a reversible fabric with hearts on both sides!
They are still adorable when used with the overlay mosaic crochet method even though you won’t be getting a reversed image on the back side.
Nested Hearts
I do use the tiny heart design in quite a few patterns (see more at https://ashleeslint.com/2024/01/15/valentines-crochet-pattern-round-up-hearts-love-romance) but Many Hearts refers specifically to these nested hearts that never end.
Pattern Sizes
I’ve listed the patterns below in order of size. I’ve started with the smallest square I have: Tutorial Hearts 10.

Tutorial Hearts 10

Many Hearts 20
This square begins with 20 windows in the interlocking crochet method or 41 stitches in the mosaic method.
These squares will be about 10″ if you meet gauge.
Many Hearts 40

This square begins with 40 windows in the interlocking crochet method or 81 stitches in the mosaic method.
It will be about 20″ if you meet gauge.
Many Hearts Scarf
With the interlocking crochet method you’ll choose whether you want to start from the short end or the long side.
The mosaic option is done from the long end which means your cut ends turn into fringe at the short ends of your scarf!
Many Hearts Shawl
This is really just a larger version of the scarf.
With the interlocking crochet method you’ll choose whether you want to start from the short end or the long side.

Repeatable Many Hearts
I have a full collection of designs in different sizes using this nested heart design. They are titled Many Hearts ## where the number at the end of the title tells you the size of the design.
This Repeatable Many Hearts pattern lets you decide the finished size!
