Beloved R

This toddler-sized blanket features a fancy letter “R” surrounded by a decorative heart design. This is the sixth pattern published in my Beloved Alphabet series (clearly, not publishing in alphabetical order).

Interlocking & Mosaic

Beloved R comes with the fully written pattern and charts for both of my preferred colorwork techniques: interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet.

The mosaic version is solid because it uses a chart that was adjusted from the interlocking version. Learn more about these techniques at https://ashleeslint.com/tutorials/interlocking-and-mosaic-crochet/.

Right- & Left-Handed

This design comes with the fully written pattern (in both techniques) for left-handed crocheters so they don’t need to read every line backwards to get the letter legible.

See the collection of patterns with a left-handed option on Ravelry.

Beloved R: A Toddler Blanket

Each design in the Beloved Alphabet series is categorized as toddler blankets.

The interlocking crochet chart for these Beloved Alphabet blankets is 161 x 161 (which means it starts with 80 windows) and it will be 40″ square when you use worsted weight (4-medium) yarn.

The border lines and mesh dots have been removed from the overlay mosaic crochet versions so they look solid (and not meshy). The mosaic chart is 157 x 157 and finishes to 42″ x 45″ / 106cm x 114cm before adding the optional envelope border.

Wrong Side of Interlocking Crochet

If you look closely you’ll see that the wrong side of the interlocking crochet blanket is less defined than the right side. The edges of the letter are not neat and tidy.

But, from a distance, if this blanket was thrown on a couch, for example, it looks pretty great to see that both sides are colorful and look good!

Left-Handed Crochet

Seeing the reversed “R” on the wrong side of the blankets reminds me that our left-handed crocheters don’t need to worry about their letter turning our backwards because I’ve created the fully written pattern for you!

Whether you crochet with your right or left hand, you deserve to have a written pattern that enables you to create the image as designed!

I don’t make you read each line backwards, I’ve done the work so you have more time to just crochet! <3
