I saw this quote years ago and it has been something that makes me grin ever since! I am not a fan of tinsel – it looks sparkly but it makes such a mess. My mom always had so much tinsel on our Christmas tree growing up and I was the annoying child that made a fuss every year. Sorry, Mom!
Holidays can be stressful, but I’m hoping this blanket can bring a spot of joy. Whether you say it in a snarky manner or a legitimately kind manner, I think at least a few people will grin when they see this. I try to use the quote as a reminder that tinsel was supposed to be a fun holiday thing and we need to be purposeful about not stressing out over things that are supposed to bring holiday cheer!
This blanket has a border of Christmas lights surrounding the quote, “Don’t get your Tinsel in a Tangle”. Sparkles are scattered all over the place. The mesh dots that are a byproduct of interlocking crochet have been removed for the mosaic version of this pattern.
You probably already know this (because it is just like all my patterns), but I will say it again here anyway: this pattern comes with written line-by-line instructions and charts for both of my favorite techniques: interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet. The mosaic chart has X’s on it.
And, because the words need to be facing the correct way to be legible this pattern also comes with left-handed instructions. I still haven’t added a left-handed video tutorial to my YouTube channel but after we get done moving I will make an effort to get more uploaded to YouTube.
Whether you purchase this pattern from Etsy or Ravelry, there will be two files: one for the interlocking technique and the other for the overlay mosaic technique. Both files have written instructions for the right-handed pattern, and then the left-handed pattern. And then each file has an appropriate chart (an X-marked chart for mosaic, and there are no X’s on the interlocking chart).
The mosaic version finishes larger and uses more yarn than the interlocking because I also use a larger hook for that technique. The dropped double crochets of mosaic crochet take up more space than the double crochet and chain space that gets repeated in an interlocking pattern.
