Magic Decanter CAL
June 2023 Crochet-A-Long
Magic Decanter, originally published in May 2021, received an update for use in our June 2023 CAL (Crochet-A-Long). There’s been no change to the design; I just updated the chart formatting and the links in the written pattern.
Choose interlocking or mosaic crochet and come join us!
Free Schedule
Starting June 27, 2023, a section of Magic Decanter will be posted weekly to my website (for forever-free-viewing).
Paid Option
Throughout the duration of the CAL you can purchase the full written pattern and chart in an ad-free PDF at a 40% discount! Add to cart to see the discount applied.
(Charts not included in the free version online)
Offer ends August 8, 2023.
More Details
Interlocking & Mosaic
The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.
Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting).
Same Chart
Both the interlocking crochet version and the overlay mosaic crochet version use the same chart design.
The mosaic chart has X’s showing where the dropped double crochets go.
The mosaic chart shows the interlocking windows. This style of mosaic crochet is not everyone’s favorite but I like the way this gives the final piece more flexibility and less weight. You will use less yarn than if the mosaic crochet option had been adjusted to be solid.
Size
The chart is 181 x 181. Using worsted weight yarn (4 – medium) your blanket will be 45″ / 115cm square.
