Summer Direction Crochet-A-Long

Dark Arrows

If this isn’t the section you’re working on, return to the list of sections for interlocking crochet or overlay mosaic crochet.

Interlocking & Mosaic

This free crochet-a-long (CAL) is written for both interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet.

This page has the written pattern for DARK ARROWS of the Summer Direction blanket for both techniques.

Free or Paid

Each section of the Summer Direction CAL was published separately on my website for free. A new YouTube walk-thru for that section of the pattern was published at the same time.

If you’re looking for the full written pattern or the x-marked charts, they’re included in the paid PDF version of Summer Direction. I appreciate all the support!

You’ll also have access to my Doctor Who blanket pattern!

Original Blog Entry

A few days ago we started my Summer Direction Crochet-A-Long (CAL). You can see a list of all my CALs here: www.AshleesLint.com/CALs

If you’d rather not wait for all the free releases (or you’re desperate for the charts), you can grab a FULL copy of the pattern and charts on Etsy or Ravelry. Get 50% off your purchase of “Summer Direction CAL” on Etsy and Ravelry until September 30, 2021 by using code “SUMMER2021”!

Crochet-A-Long Journey

So far we have done the foundation rows and then Chevron A twice.

If you are using the interlocking / Locked Filet Mesh / LFM crochet technique you had to follow two different sets of instructions to get the Chevron A to show up on the right side of your work. This “Dark Arrows” section doesn’t get repeated (but there will be some very similar arrows coming later).

Since this Crochet-A-Long (as well as all my other patterns) is written up for two techniques, you may find it easier to navigate to the section you want from the main landing page. This post is for the “Dark Arrows” section; first the overlay mosaic line-by-line instructions and then the interlocking version. The YouTube walk-thru’s are linked here as well.

I call these “dark” arrows because they show more of the Main Color/MC (which is usually the darker color). Later we will also do “light” arrows which show more of the Contrasting Color/CC or Accent Color/AC. If you’ve used a lighter color for your MC it will be ok. Your project will still turn out amazing, I’m sure!

If you need a reminder of the key and other important information please see the landing page for the technique you’re using!

Dark Arrows: Overlay Mosaic Crochet Technique

After the foundation rows we did “Chevron A” two times. Now we will do this “Dark Arrows” section once.

Remember, even-numbered rows use Main Color (MC); odd-numbered rows use Contrasting Color (CC). You can read the pattern KEY if you need a refresher.

Here’s the YouTube walk-thru and the written instructions.

Numbered Sections

I realize this CAL got a bit confusing with all the jumping between sections.

The Dark Arrows section is only used for section 4.

Interlocking Crochet/LFM: Dark Arrows

When you created two Chevron A’s you had to use two different patterns because one began with the Right Side (RS) and the other began with the Wrong Side (WS).

This Dark Arrows section begins with the WS but there is no RS version. If you follow my pattern as written there won’t be a problem but if you’re mixing and matching you will want to take note of that detail.

Go back to the landing page for a review of important information and the KEY.

Here’s the walk-thru for the DARK ARROWS section of our Summer Direction CAL and the written portion.

Numbered Sections

I realize this CAL got a bit confusing with all the jumping between sections AND the right side/wrong side business.

The Dark Arrows section is only used for section 4.
